Running
up hills and skipping across bridges, Picnic’s characters
explore the absurd and the mundane. As they move around
the park, now transformed into their surreal playground,
the traditional English summer picnic unfolds set to a
curious soundtrack of nature.
A small group feast upon strawberries and cream; others are delayed their pleasure by a painstaking series of preparations; others still enjoy games of skipping and elastics but under a curious physical restraint. All seemingly bend to the authority of the croquet players. Picnic
was performed on Saturday 16th September 2006 at Mile End
